Cardinal Lights


Due to weather forecast, please take note of new date for Cardinal Lights:

Date: Wednesday, Dec. 6, 6 - 8 p.m.
Location: Wayne A. Reaud Building Courtyard

四虎影视 will light up the holiday season with the third annual Cardinal Lights this Wednesday, Dec. 6, 6 to 8 p.m. in the courtyard of the Wayne A. Reaud Building. Cardinal Lights will feature a holiday light display for LU faculty, staff, students and community members to enjoy, as well as children's activities, hot cocoa, holiday cookies, photos with Santa, and other festive fun. A fireworks display will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Student Health Center Now Offering TimelyCare Mental Health Services

Location: Virtual

LU's Student Health Center has partnered with TimelyCare to provide students with 24/7 access to virtual mental health services for free. Students do not need insurance to participate. By signing up , you can access 24/7 on-demand emotional support and scheduled counseling sessions!

Teeth Cleaning Services Available to Students

Need a dental cleaning? LU and LIT students can receive dental services for only $15. Make an appointment with the LIT Dental Hygiene clinic today by calling (409) 880-8020. Services include dental cleanings, oral cancer screenings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, and more.

Center for Resiliency Launches New SmartStorm Initiative

The LU Center for Resiliency has launched a new distance learning portal, , that will provide useful and critical information for preparing for and coping with the effects of hurricanes, floods and damaging weather. Three courses will be available with certificates and a disaster preparedness backpack, while supplies last.

Pulse Magazine
Submit to Pulse, LU's Student Literary Magazine

Deadline: Friday, Dec. 15, midnight

Submissions will be open from October 15 to December 15 for Pulse magazine. Submission categories include: poetry, short fiction, scholarly essays, creative nonfiction, poetry in translation, and art. Submissions are open to all students, regardless of major. $100 prizes will be given for each category. A publication release party and reading event will be held in May of 2024.

2024-2025 FAFSA Update: Mark Your Calendars

Deadline: Sunday, Dec. 31, 11:59 p.m.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA will go live by Dec. 31, 2023. Have your FSA ID and password ready, and gather personal and financial documents for you and your contributors. Additionally, don't forget to give consent for the tax data transfer to avoid a rejected FAFSA.

State of Texas Seeking Non-Voting Student Representatives to TSUS Board of Regents & THECB

Deadline: Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, 5 p.m.
Location: LU Reaud Building, Office of the President, Room 321

Each year, the State of Texas seeks applicants for non-voting student representatives to the Texas State University System (TSUS) Board of Regents and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Students selected for these positions play an important part in representing the students of each Texas public university.

Applicants must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, be able to attend required TSUS or THECB meetings, and have a strong drive and self-motivation to contribute to the progress of higher education in Texas. Applications must be printed out and submitted no later than Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. to the Office of the President, Reaud Building, Room 321.

2024 David J. Beck Fellowship Application Deadline Extended

LU Center for Resiliency Welcomes 2024 Summit Participants

The 四虎影视 Center for Resiliency hosts an annual Research Summit, and we are now accepting presentation abstracts across all colleges. We are searching for moderators, panelists and presenters. If interested, please contact Teressa Robertson via email at teressa.robertson@lamar.edu.
