LU Physics Department to Host Colloquium on Nanoflare Heating

Date: Monday, Nov. 6, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Archer Building, Room 108

Understanding the heating of the non-flaring solar corona is an active topic of research in heliophysics. The LU Physics Department will host a colloquium, Nanoflare Heating in Coronal X-ray Bright Points, featuring Dr. Biswajit Monda, PhD, of Marshall Space Flight Center in Hunstville, Alabama, as he discusses coronal mass ejections from the sun, and how they impact the earth.

LU School of Nursing to Host Public Presentations for Chair Position

Dr. Deborah Roybal, Associate Professor in Loretto Heights School of Nursing at Regis University, will visit LU's campus on Tuesday Nov. 7, and Dr. Joseph Tacy, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at University of Mississippi Medical Center, will be visit on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Both candidates will give presentations on the biggest challenges facing nursing education today, as they interview for the position of Chair of the LU School of Nursing in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Cardinal Connect Laptop Loaner Program

Location: Mary and John Gray Library, 1st Floor

四虎影视 provides loaner laptops to LU students as a courtesy and at no charge. Laptops are available for both short-term checkouts (up to three days) and long-term checkouts (up to eight weeks). You must be a current student at LU to be eligible for this program.

For more information, visit the Information Technology (I.T.) Service Desk on the 1st floor of the Mary and John Gray Library. You will need to present your LU Student Cardinal One card. No other forms of identification will be accepted. Laptops are available on a “first come, first served” basis.

LU Writing Center Hosts First Ever WAC Composition Awards

Faculty members who teach first-year writing classes are encouraged to nominate one deserving student by Nov. 15 for a first-of-its-kind Compy Award. The LU Center for Resiliency has launched a new distance learning portal, , that will provide useful and critical information for preparing for and coping with the effects of hurricanes, floods and damaging weather. Three courses will be available with certificates and a disaster preparedness backpack, while supplies last.

Pulse Magazine
Submit to Pulse, LU's Student Literary Magazine

Deadline: Friday, Dec. 15, 12:00 a.m.

Submissions will be open from October 15 to December 15 for Pulse magazine. Submission categories include: poetry, short fiction, scholarly essays, creative nonfiction, poetry in translation, and art. Submissions are open to all students, regardless of major. $100 prizes will be given for each category. A publication release party and reading event will be held in May of 2024.
