Understanding the heating of the non-flaring solar corona is an active topic of research in heliophysics. The LU Physics Department will host a colloquium, Nanoflare Heating in Coronal X-ray Bright Points, featuring Dr. Biswajit Monda, PhD, of Marshall Space Flight Center in Hunstville, Alabama, as he discusses coronal mass ejections from the sun, and how they impact the earth.

The LU Center for Resiliency has launched a new distance learning portal, , that will provide useful and critical information for preparing for and coping with the effects of hurricanes, floods and damaging weather.
