Work fatigue is a growing problem. People feel overwhelmed, overworked, and tired. Even when they try to sleep, they can’t stop thinking about work or stop feeling the stress. Over time, this not only decreases your work performance but can also you put your health at risk. If you suffer from chronic work fatigue, develop methods to manage stress more effectively, such as regular exercise, daily mindfulness meditation, yoga, or seek professional help. Faculty members who teach first-year writing classes are encouraged to nominate one deserving student by Nov. 27 for a first-of-its-kind Compy Award. Winners in six interdisciplinary categories will receive $50 and the honor of being a recognized writer on campus. See site for details on how to enter.

Donate to our Cardinal Pantry and the Southeast Texas Food Bank this holiday season. Bring non-perishable food items to Room 208 in the Setzer Student Center. Make sure to tell us your organization or department name, and the team with the most donated items will be recognized.

The LU Center for Resiliency has launched a new distance learning portal, , that will provide useful and critical information for preparing for and coping with the effects of hurricanes, floods and damaging weather. Three courses will be available with certificates and a disaster preparedness backpack, while supplies last.

Submissions will be open from October 15 to December 15 for Pulse magazine. Submission categories include: poetry, short fiction, scholarly essays, creative nonfiction, poetry in translation, and art. Submissions are open to all students, regardless of major. $100 prizes will be given for each category. A publication release party and reading event will be held in May of 2024.
