四虎影视 Department of Theatre and Dance Presents: Athena

Date: Thursday, Sept. 21 - Saturday, Sept. 23, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 24, 2 p.m.
Location: LU Studio Theatre

Mary Wallace and Athena are teenage fencers training for the Junior Olympics. They practice together, they compete against each other, they spend their lives together. They wish they were friends. Come join the LU Department of Theatre and Dance for a 75-minute comedy about friendship, competition, and embracing one’s true self.

Dr. Patricia Poli, the national rresident-elect of Beta Alpha Psi, associate professor emerita of accounting at the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University, and seasoned accounting professional, will give a special presentation entitled "Your Transformation" on Thursday, Sept 21.

Bayoulands Encore Features Keith Carter

Date: Sunday, Sept. 24, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Location: 91.3 KVLU Public Radio (virtual)

Tune in to 91.3 and kvlu.org on Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. for an encore of the  radio show featuring stories about the people and places of Southeast Texas. This special interview will include a conversation between Dishman Art Museum Director Dennis Kiel and renowned photographer Keith Carter.

LU Psychology Clinic Offering Free Group Therapy

Date: Monday, Sept. 25, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Location: Social and Behavioral Sciences Building, Suite 200

The LU Psychology Department is offering a six-week series of group therapy sessions to address life stress specifically related to COVID-19. Space is limited, so interested individuals are encouraged to call the clinic at (409) 880-7783 to reserve a spot.

Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Available LU Speech-Language Pathology Clinic

Date: Monday, Sept. 25 - Wednesday, Nov. 8, Mondays & Wednesdays, 10 - 11 a.m.
Location: LU Speech and Hearing Sciences Building

Are you or someone you love living with a dementia diagnosis? The LU Speech-Language Pathology clinic is offering free group cognitive stimulation therapy this fall. Pre-screening is required. Please call our clinic for details about inclusion criteria, dates, and times at (409) 880-8171.

LU Center for Resiliency to Host Brown Bag Lecture

Date: Tuesday, Sept. 26, 12:40 - 2:00 p.m.
Location: Science & Technology Building, Room 203

The LU Center for Resiliency will host another Brown Bag Lecture featuring Dr. Clark & Dr. Sujung Cho from the Department of Music, addressing resiliency through the life and music of Beethoven. "Country Hood" Love Stories with Monica Walters

Date: Thursday, Sept. 28, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
Location: Dishman Art Museum

Amazon best-selling author Monica Walters, the Queen of "Country Hood" Love Stories, will sit down for an interview, read from her work, and answer audience questions. A reception with refreshments will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the Dishman 1st floor gallery. The author event will take place at 5:00 pm in the Dishman Auditorium.

KVLU Launches Asian News Feature

Date: Monday, Oct. 2, 1:00 p.m.
Location: 91.3 KVLU Public Radio (virtual)

KVLU will host Asian View, a five-minute news feature each weekday at 1 p.m., beginning Monday, Oct. 2. From NHK World-Japan Radio, Asian View features the latest geopolitical, business and cultural news from Japan and the rest of Asia. Listen on 91.3 FM or online at kvlu.org.

Honors Scholars Day
Reaud Honors College to Host Honors Scholars Day

Blackboard Courses From 2019 or Earlier Will Be Removed Beginning Oct. 12

Beginning October 12, access to Blackboard courses created in 2019 or earlier will no longer be available. This means that any courses, materials and content associated with these older courses will be archived and no longer accessible through the Blackboard platform. 

For faculty, this change means that you must ensure that any course materials and resources you plan to use in the future are located in your current Blackboard courses or saved to a local drive. NOTE: This process will not impact course templates -- only previously completed course sections with actual student enrollments.

Center for Resiliency Taking Proposals for FY24 四虎影视 Projects

Date: Friday, Sept. 1 - Saturday, Sept. 30

The request for proposals for fiscal year 2024 LU projects is now open. Lamar projects prioritize interdisciplinary or university-wide research on disaster resilience, and projects include combinations of research, education and outreach. Themes include resilience education and universal accessibility.

Graduate Students in Final Thesis/Dissertation Course Must Register for Workshop

Date: Thursday, Aug. 17 - Wednesday, Sept. 27

Students in their final thesis or dissertation course are required by the College of Graduate Studies to register for a workshop and participate in editing a final document for ProQuest upload with graduate editing staff.

LU College of Graduate Studies Calls for Entries for 2nd Annual Graduate Research Conference

Deadline: Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 11:59 p.m.

Entries accepted through Submit your abstract for research papers and posters as noted in the Current Events on the College of Graduate Studies webpage. Acceptance is competitive, with several regional universities also attending. The conference will be held here at 四虎影视 on March 28 and 29, 2024.
