Booth Hosts Needed for CentennialFest 

Date: Sunday, Sept. 17, booth set-up begins at 8 a.m.

四虎影视 is celebrating its 100th birthday with CentennialFest and you are invited to be involved. Each booth will have a table and two chairs. Food and sale items are prohibited. The host is responsible for table cover, decorations and giveaways or supplied related to an activity. Register now to be a booth host. We look forward to seeing you there.

Release Party/Reading Event for LamarStrong: A Resiliency Reader

The Center for Resiliencey (English and Modern Languages) will be celebrating the release of LamarStrong: A Resiliency Reader, a collection of writing and artwork submitted by students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the Lamar community, including LU, LIT, LSCO, and LSCPA. The event will open with a reception, followed by readings from our published authors.

National Stuttering Association Beaumont/Lamar to Host Chapter Meeting

If you stutter, you're not alone. It’s estimated that 1% of adults stutter, which equals 160 Lamar faculty, students and staff sharing the common experience of stuttering. Football is Back This Thursday!

Date: Thursday, Aug. 31, 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Location: Provost Umphrey Stadium

Coach Ross and LU Football are excited to kick off the 2023 campaign at Provost Umphrey Stadium on Thursday, August 31 at 7 p.m. against eighth-ranked University of Idaho. The game's theme is "White Out," and all fans are encouraged to wear white. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a limited edition white BOOMTOWN rally towel. now.

End of Fiscal Year 2023 Deadlines Established

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 ends on August 31, 2023. Financial Services has established the following deadlines for processing transactions against current FY23 funds to ensure the university’s business is conducted in full compliance with state laws and policies. This also helps establish purchase orders/contracts/payments/travel/payroll/inventory applications for the start of FY24. These deadlines are established to enable staff to better manage the increased year-end workload. We ask that departments adhere to the deadlines to the best of their ability.

Graduate Students in Final Thesis/Dissertation Course Must Register for Workshop

Date: Thursday, Aug. 17 - Wednesday, Sept. 27

Students in their final thesis or dissertation course are required by the College of Graduate Studies to register for a workshop and participate in editing a final document for ProQuest upload with graduate editing staff.

LU Football Tailgating Updates

We encourage you to review the information below so that you are prepared for the fan presence on campust his LU football season. The 2023 season introduces an upgraded tailgating experience, amplifying the excitement that has grown since Pete Rossomando's hiring in December. This season's "Big Red's Boomtown" tailgate includes live music, food trucks, games and more, contributing to the program's thriving atmosphere.

Center for Resiliency Taking Proposals for FY24 LU Projects

The Center for Resiliency is excited to open the request for proposals for FY24 LU projects. Lamar projects prioritize interdisciplinary or university-wide disaster resilience, and projects include combinations of research, education and outreach. Themes include resilience education and universal accessibility.

Research Team Seeking Participants in Study

The research team would like to invite faculty and staff members to participate in a study titled, "Experiences with Publications Before and After Graduation." Three LU Students Awarded by Creative Writing Association

Creative writers from the Department of English and Modern Languages recently won three of six categories awarded to students by the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers. These authors will read at the TACWT conference in September, and they will be published in the conference journal, "Writing Texas," edited by John Schulze. The published work will be, “Feed the Baby, Fold the Laundry” by Reilly Smith, “Lupus,” by Tiffany Charleston and “Gaslight” by Mak F. Campbell

Buckeye Funds Midstream Research Project

Buckeye Partners, L.P. (“Buckeye”) has funded $100,000 for the continuation and expansion of a research project led by 四虎影视 professors Dr. Mariam Hamidi and Dr. Jing Zhang, with Dr. Sushill Duranga and Dr. Xinyu Liu, that is focused on deep learning-based defect classification and prediction. Buckeye is a premier infrastructure and logistics provider based in Houston. It is one of the largest independent liquid petroleum products pipeline operators in the United States.
