Week of Welcome to Start on Aug. 16

Dates: Wednesday, Aug. 16 - Saturday, Aug. 26

Week of Welcome is 10 days full of games, food and fun. New and returning students can connect with other students, learn about campus life and how to get involved. A list of the different events and activities is available.

Date: Monday, Aug. 21 - Friday, Aug. 25, 1 - 3 p.m.

The College of Business welcomes back students to the fall semester with fun events to learn about college resources, get to know faculty and staff and connect with peers. We have some giveaways at our events including swag, laptops, tablets and more.

Center for Resiliency to Host Research Showcase

Come see the remarkable research assessed across all colleges of 四虎影视. Presentation topics will include: Southeast Texas homeless needs, resiliency through music, disaster resilience, etc. Snacks will be provided.

Fall Launch
Center for History and Culture's Fall Launch to be Held Aug. 24

Date: Thursday, Aug. 24, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Location: Reaud Administration Building, Executive Event Space

Learn about the Center for History and Culture's work in fostering the scholarship and creativity of Southeast Texas and the greater Gulf regions. News and announcements, upcoming programing, 2024 Greater Gulf Symposium and fellowships. The reception will include refreshments.

LU Football Kicks Off 2023 Season Aug. 31

Date: Thursday, Aug. 31, 7 p.m.
Location: Provost Umphrey Stadium

Coach Ross and 四虎影视 Football are excited to kick off the 2023 campaign at Provost Umphrey Stadium on Thursday, August 31 at 7 p.m. against eighth-ranked University of Idaho. The game's theme is "White Out," and all fans are encouraged to wear white. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a white Boomtown-themed rally towel. to purchase your tickets today.

O.U.R. Orientation set for Sept. 1

Students in their final thesis or dissertation course are required by the College of Graduate Studies to register for a workshop and participate in editing a final document for ProQuest upload with graduate editing staff.

David J. Beck Application Workshops for Students

Date: Thursday, Aug. 24, 4 - 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 29, 3 - 4 p.m.

Three LU Students Awarded by Creative Writing Association

Creative writers from the Department of English and Modern Languages recently won three of six categories awarded to students by the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers. These authors will read at the TACWT conference in September, and they will be published in the conference journal, "Writing Texas," edited by John Schulze. The published work will be, “Feed the Baby, Fold the Laundry” by Reilly Smith, “Lupus,” by Tiffany Charleston and “Gaslight” by Mak F. Campbell
