Fourth Annual Jimmy Simpson Jazz Festival to be on April 1

四虎影视's Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music is proud to announce the fourth annual Jimmy Simmons Jazz Festival. Special guests for the event will be 17-time Grammy nominated Yellowjackets, featuring music from their most recent release.

The Future of Death Penalty Conference to be Held April 4

The Center for Death Penalty Studies will hold a conference regarding the future of the death penalty. Speakers at the conference include Amherst College law professor Austin Sarat and Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center Robert Dunham.

PC Refresh Moving to Summer

四虎影视 Client Computing is moving the annual 四虎影视 PC Refresh program to the summer. This program replaces aging computers across campus, providing newer technology and a more secure environment for faculty, staff and student use.

During the remainder of March and beginning of April, departments should expect an email from lupcrefresh@lamar.edu to confirm devices that have been tentatively selected for this program. After conformation, a representative from Information Technology will schedule an appointment to visit the department, verify each computer and determine whether it will be replaced. After all the computers have been verified and final determinations have been made, a bulk order will be placed and replacement will occur during the months of June and July.

A Resiliency Reader
Call for Submissions: Tell Us Your Story of Resilience

Deadline: Sunday, April 30, 11:59 p.m.

The Center for Resiliency is publishing a book of collected works from the Lamar community, including LIT, Lamar State College Orange and Lamar State College Port Arthur. We're accepting poetry, short fiction, personal/scholarly essays and art. Tell us your story of resilience. Five submissions will be awarded $100 each.

LU Announces Recipients for 2023 David J. Beck Fellowship Scholarship

Allison Harmon and Jacob Thompson will be receiving the David J. Beck scholarship for 2023. Harmon (Vidor, Texas) is an English major with a minor in writing. Thompson (Beaumont, Texas) is a biology major with a minor in chemistry and a concentration in pre-medicine.

Collegiate 100 Inducts 14 New Members

四虎影视's Collegiate 100 inducted the following students this spring: Sherry Kazeem, Jordan Nelson, Kayla Thompson, Daijia Pugh, Cory Citizen, Kelechi Okonkwo, Dajsha Lewis, Kaitlyn Rogers, Blake Wilson, Kayla Lundy, Vivian Fletcher, Aniya Wheeler, Myla Palm and Kaliyah Holloway.

Dr. Terrier Named Finalist for Position at Region 5 Educational Service Center

Dr. Byron Terrier has been named the lone finalist for the executive director position at Region 5 Education Service Center. He starts his new duties Friday, April 7.
