Homecoming 2022
Starting on Monday, Sept. 26, 四虎影视 is hosting a full week of events leading up to the university’s homecoming celebration, which also coincides with Cardinal Parent & Family Day. The week features a slate of activities on campus for students to enjoy, culminating Saturday, Oct. 1, when the Cardinals football team will take on Houston Christian University in Provost Umphrey Stadium.

LU Black Alumni Network to host scholarship gala
LU Black Alumni Network Annual Scholarship Gala

Date: Friday, Sept. 30, 8 p.m.
Location: Major Event Center

Join the 四虎影视 Black Alumni Network on Friday, Sept. 30 for the 2nd annual Homecoming Scholarship Gala at the Major Event Center. For more information on event registration or sponsorship opportunities, visit lamar.edu/blackalumnigala. Advance registration is required by Sept. 23.

Art Exhibition Opening Reception

Location: Dishman Art Museum

Please join the Dishman Art Museum, at the opening reception for two art exhibitions — Keith Carter: Ghostlight and Crystal Realities to Artificial Intelligence: Multidisciplinary Explorations in Photography. Food and drinks provided. Free and open to the public.

Four multidisciplinary artists, Linda Alterwitz, Dornith Doherty, Rashed Haq and Liz Hickok, discuss incorporating STEM technologies and themes into their respective art practices.
Technology | Photography | Humanity - Working at the Intersection of Art & Science

Date: Friday, Sept. 30, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Location: Dishman Art Museum, Auditorium

Four multidisciplinary artists, Linda Alterwitz, Dornith Doherty, Rashed Haq and Liz Hickok, discuss incorporating STEM technologies and themes into their respective art practices. This event, held in the Dishman Art Museum Auditorium, follows up with the opening reception for the art exhibit, "Crystal Realities to Artificial Intelligence."

The event, called 鈥淔all Festi-Ful,鈥 is put on by Chartwells Higher Education, 四虎影视鈥檚 food service provider, and will be hosted virtually by celebrity chef Jet Tila.聽
Fall FestiFUL

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 5, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. 
Location: Dining Hall Lawn

More than 13 local farmers and vendors will come together on 四虎影视’s campus to share their goods, meet with students and create meaningful memories as the school year kicks off. The event, called “,” is put on by Chartwells Higher Education, 四虎影视’s food service provider, and will be hosted virtually by celebrity chef Jet Tila. There will be prizes, games and shopping opportunities with the vendors. We will also have a specially crafted fall menu in the dining hall.

National Stuttering Association Beaumont/Lamar Chapter Meeting

Date: Thursday, Oct. 6, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Location: Speech and Hearing Sciences Building, Room 170

If you stutter, you are not alone! Come join us at our first fall meeting. NSA chapters can help. With more than 3 million Americans sharing the common experience of stuttering, the National Stuttering Association (NSA) plays a vital role in letting people who stutter know that they are not alone.

A 2005 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, this wildly theatrical and funny play is a whimsical and poignant look at class, comedy and the true nature of love.聽
Department of Theatre & Dance Opens "The Clean House"

Date: Oct. 6-8, 7:30 p.m. & Oct. 9, 2 p.m.
Location: Studio Theatre

"The Clean House" is a play by Sarah Ruhl. A 2005 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, this wildly theatrical and funny play is a whimsical and poignant look at class, comedy and the true nature of love. Tickets are for purchase. 

Fall 2022 O.U.R. Conferences Workshop

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Location: Landes Auditorium

Please join us for a panel discussion on how to present a poster or give a talk in the upcoming Office of Undergraduate Research conferences — 10th Annual Texas STEM 2022 Conference, held on Nov. 5, and the 9th Annual Humanities, Arts, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Education and Business (HASBSEB), held on Nov. 19. Past successful presenters will share their experiences. Several awards also will be offered at these events.

OUR Research Grant Proposal Deadline

Do you want to have a great research experience this university year? Apply for an Office of Undergraduate Research grant. Send an email of intent by Sep. 20 to cbahrim@lamar.edu. Submission deadline is Sep. 25. Research Grants are available for all undergraduates from all levels and all academic areas.

COVID-19 Vaccines Available

Free COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) are available at the Student Health Center to all 四虎影视/LIT students, faculty and staff. You must register for an appointment. 

The Student Health Center is also offering COVID-19 booster vaccines for eligible students, faculty and staff for LU and LIT campuses. Eligibility criteria can be found on the . Please fill out the registration form for an appointment.
