Live Q and A Student Exchange Info Session with Caleb Parker

This will be an info session in which College of Business students will come and ask questions and learn more about how a student was able to go study abroad for a semester exchange.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is hosting the 四虎影视 Inspirational Woman Award Reception. The 2022 theme is "Women Providing Healing, Providing Hope." The keynote speaker is Dr. Cynthia Stinson, chair for the JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing.

Faculty have many demands of their time and are often too busy to learn about new resources that could assist them with courses and efficiency. For this reason, the Center for Teaching and Learning Enhancement we will be conducting “speed dating for technology” for LU faculty.


鈥淭hey Will Talk About Us: The Charlton-Pollard Story鈥 - Student/Staff Session

Date: Thursday, March 31, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Location: Science Auditorium 100

Students, faculty and staff are invited to join us for a special event featuring a screening of “They Will Talk About Us: The Charlton-Pollard Story.” Developed in conjunction with a short illustrated history, this 32-minute documentary film chronicles the origins of one of the oldest Black neighborhoods in Beaumont, Texas. The public screening session will take place at 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Dishman Auditorium.

3rd Annual Recovery and Resiliency Summit Registration

Registration for the Recovery and Resiliency: Building A Collaborative Community 3rd Annual Research Summit is now open. The summit will include breakout sessions, invited speakers, keynote address and research presentations. Topics will include healthcare, government and industry, science, engineering and community preparedness.

The Center for History and Culture Fellowships Available

The Center for History and Culture invites applications for research and creative fellowships up to $5000 to support the production, curation and transmission of knowledge about Southeast Texas and the greater Gulf Coast. The CHC welcomes applications from any scholarly discipline or creative field. The application deadline is April 1.


IT Services Outage

To prepare for an upcoming construction project, all phones and IT services will be unavailable in the Cherry Engineering Building and the Office of Global Diversity on Monday, March 14 at 7:00 a.m. through Wednesday, March 16. Dr. Jim Mann Appointed to faculty Ombudsperson

Dr. Jim Mann has been named as 四虎影视’s first faculty ombudsperson following an internal search. The ombudsperson, who reports directly to the president, acts as an independent, impartial, confidential and safe resource for faculty and staff at 四虎影视 to get information and develop options for how to move forward in difficult situations.


CHC Accepting Faculty Affiliate Applications

Let us recognize the work that you do! Become a Faculty Affiliate of the Center for History & Culture and join a community of scholars and teachers who share experiences, provide mentoring and foster interdisciplinary exchange to deepen our understanding of Southeast Texas & the Greater Gulf Region.

Library to Close Early on March 11

Due to work on the ongoing library construction project, the library will close at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 11. During this time, the construction crew will facilitate the transfer of power from the old to the new power infrastructure. All online, virtual resources and services will be accessible and available during this time.  The building will reopen on Tuesday March 15 at 7:30 a.m. General .

TSUS Regents' Award Applications Now Open

Faculty are invited to apply for the Texas State University System Regents' Professor Award and TSUS Regents' Teacher Award. Staff are invited to apply for the TSUS Regents' Staff Excellence Award.


Review of Texas Books Needs Reviewers

Review of Texas Books publishes reviews of books published in Texas, written by Texas authors and/or about Texas and Texans. We are seeking reviewers interested in reading and reviewing a text prior to April 13. Please email jhravey@lamar.edu for more info and a book list.

Nominations are open for the LU Inspirational Woman Awards

The 2022 Women's History theme is "Providing Healing, Promoting Hope." The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is accepting nominations to honor caregivers and front line workers during this ongoing pandemic. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 10 at 5 p.m.

Academic Affairs Revision Open for Comment

Proposals are open for 30-day comment regarding the following MAPPs: Course Delivery Methods & Schedule Usage Policy and Approved Meeting Periods. Submit comments.

Library seeking student and faculty input on study rooms!

Throughout February and March, the Mary and John Gray Library is seeking student and faculty participants for a focus group assessment on study room design and preferences. The deadline to  is March 15.

COVID19 Vaccines
COVID-19 Vaccines Available

Free COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) are available at the Student Health Center to all 四虎影视/LIT students, faculty and staff. You must register for an appointment. 

The Student Health Center is also offering COVID-19 booster vaccines for eligible students, faculty and staff for LU and LIT campuses. Eligibility criteria can be found on the . Please fill out the registration form for an appointment.
