Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music Presents Collage Fundraising Concert

Date: Tuesday, Mar. 1, 7:30 p.m.
Location: University Theatre

The Collage fundraising concert will be Tuesday, Mar. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre. Guests can enjoy performances from our students from opera to jazz - there is something for everyone! Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at lamar.edu/collage. Money raised benefits Music students.

David J. Beck Fellowship Ceremony

Date: Wednesday, Mar. 2, 1 - 2:30 p.m.
Location: Setzer Student Center Live Oak Ballroom

The annual ceremony for the David J. Beck Fellowship will include announcement of the 2022 Beck Fellows. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with the formal ceremony followed by a reception. Follow the link for more information.


Spring Career Expo

Date: Thursday, Mar. 3, 2-4 p.m.
Location: Setzer Student Center Live Oak Ballroom

All 四虎影视 students and alumni are invited to attend the Spring Career Expo. Meet and network with employers and professionals from a variety of fields. Bring copies of your resume and dress to impress.


Live Q and A Student Exchange Info Session with Caleb Parker

Date: Tuesday, Mar. 8, 2-3 p.m.
Location: Setzer Student Center, Sea Rim room 229

This will be an info session where College of Business students will come and ask questions and learn more about how a student was able to go study abroad for a semester exchange.

Inspirational Woman Award Reception

Date: Thursday, Mar. 24, 4-5 p.m.
Location: Mary and John Gray Library 8th Floor

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is hosting the 四虎影视 Inspirational Woman Award Reception. The 2022 theme is "Women Providing Healing, Providing Hope." The keynote speaker is Dr. Cynthia Stinson, chair for the JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing.


Save the Date: Learning Tech Speed Dating for Faculty

Faculty have many demands of their time and are often too busy to learn about new resources that could assist them with courses and efficiency. For this reason, the Center for Teaching and Learning Enhancement we will be conducting “speed dating for technology” for LU faculty.


3rd Annual Recovery and Resiliency Summit Registration

Registeration for the Recovery and Resiliency: Building A Collaborative Community 3rd Annual Research Summit is now open. The primary focus of the RnR Summit this year will be to foster a collaborative community approach to strengthen recovery from recent challenges.

Dr. Jim Mann has been named as 四虎影视’s first faculty ombudsperson following an internal search. The Ombudsperson, who reports directly to the president, acts as an independent, impartial, confidential and safe resource for faculty and staff at 四虎影视 to get information and develop options for how to move forward in difficult situations.


CHC Accepting Faculty Affiliate Applications

Let us recognize the work that you do! Become a Faculty Affiliate of the Center for History & Culture and join a community of scholars and teachers who share experiences, provide mentoring and foster interdisciplinary exchange to deepen our understanding of Southeast Texas & the Greater Gulf Region.

Library to Close Early on March 11

Due to work on the ongoing library construction project, the library will close at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 11.  During this time, the construction crew will facilitate the transfer of power from the old to the new power infrastructure. All online, virtual resources and services will be accessible and available during this time.  The building will reopen on Tuesday Mar. 15 at 7:30 a.m.  General .

TSUS Regents' Award Applications Now Open

Faculty are invited to apply for the Texas State University System Regents' Professor Award and TSUS Regents' Teacher Award. Staff are invited to apply for the TSUS Regents' Staff Excellence Award.


Review of Texas Books Needs Reviewers

Review of Texas Books publishes reviews of books published in Texas, written by Texas authors, and/or about Texas and Texans. We are seeking reviewers interested in reading and reviewing a text prior to April 13. Please email jhravey@lamar.edu for more info and a book list.

Outlook for Android will require Android 8.0 or above starting May 23

Beginning May 23, Outlook for Android will no longer support Android 7.1 or below. Users will need to upgrade their Android operating system to at least Android 8.0.
 
How this will affect 四虎影视 users:
If LU students, faculty or staff are using Outlook for Android on phones or tablets running an older version of Android, they will no longer be able to update to newer versions of Outlook for Android when this change is implemented.
 
What you need to do to prepare:
Please ensure that you update your phone or tablet’s operating system to Android 8.0 or newer.

Nominations are open for the LU Inspirational Woman Awards

The 2022 Women's History theme is "Providing Healing, Promoting Hope." The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is accepting nominations to honor caregivers and front line workers during this ongoing pandemic. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 10 at 5 p.m.


Chrome River Travel Request System Launching February 22

四虎影视's Travel Office is launching Chrome River, its new online travel request & management system, on Feb. 22. No more print forms, receipts or signatures. Convenient electronic travel requests & routing.

Nominations for Faculty Mentor Award 2022

The Office of Undergraduate Research is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2022 Faculty Mentor Award. This award honors an undergraduate research mentor for his/her success in mentoring UG students in research. We are accepting self-nominations as well. Please send nominations to cbahrim@lamar.edu by March 1 at 8 p.m.


Dishman Art Museum presents COHABITATION

COHABITATION, featuring Mayuko Ono Gray and Mark Greenwalt, is currently on display in the Dishman Art Museum through Mar. 5. DRAWINGS, featuring Charles Kanwischer, can be viewed on the second floor gallery during this time. Admission to the Dishman Art Museum is free and open to the public.


Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (S.U.R.F.)

The Office of Undergraduate Research invites all majors at LU to submit grant proposals to the SURF 2022 program. Please visit the SURF guidelines for submission, eligibility criteria and the benefits for being a SURF fellow.


CMMS featured in AES "Universities in the Spotlight"

We are proud to announce that LU’s Center for Midstream Management and Science has been featured in American Energy Society’s spotlight issue: Universities in the Spotlight. This issue consists of 20 academic programs and their contributions to the energy sector.

Library seeking student and faculty input on study rooms!

Throughout February and March, the Mary and John Gray Library is seeking student and faculty participants for a focus group assessment on study room design and preferences. The deadline to  is March 15.

Simio Approves In-Kind Grant to the Center for Midstream Management and Science

Simio LLC has approved an in-kind grant valued at $216,000 to 四虎影视's Center for Midstream Management and Science. This grant includes 90 copies of Simio® Academic Edition software that will be used in research and education in digital manufacturing.

COVID-19 Vaccines Available

Free COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) are available at the Student Health Center to all 四虎影视/LIT students, faculty and staff. You must register for an appointment. 

The Student Health Center is also offering COVID-19 booster vaccines for eligible students, faculty and staff for LU and LIT campuses. Eligibility criteria can be found on the . Please fill out the registration form for an appointment.
