Investigating and Prosecuting the James Byrd Jr. Case

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 16, 4-5:30 p.m.
Location: Setzer Student Center Live Oak Ballroom

James Byrd Jr. was an African American man whose murder in Jasper, Texas made national headlines and sparked legislative changes. Following Byrd's death, the family established the James Byrd Foundation for Racial Healing. Presenters: Tim Brewer, adjunct professor, and Mark Broome, instructor.


Exploring MIS & SAP with Guest Speaker Adam Schick

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 16, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Location: Landes Auditorium (GB 101)
 

During this session students will have the opportunity to learn about careers in MIS, as well as the software and technology used in this field. Alumnus Adam Schick (MIS '18) will be joining to discuss his career and experience with MIS & SAP.

LUTV Productions to premier Charlton-Pollard documentary

Date: Feb. 18, 6-7 p.m.
Location: Jefferson Theatre

In this 32-minute film, former residents, members of the community and a local historian document the people and the legacy of the Charlton-Pollard neighborhood, one of the oldest Black neighborhoods in Beaumont. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The Department of Art & Design will host Charles Kanwischer for an Artist's Lecture in the Dishman Lecture Hall, followed by a reception on the second floor gallery where his work is currently on exhibition.

Dishman Art Museum presents COHABITATION

COHABITATION, featuring Mayuko Ono Gray and Mark Greenwalt, is currently on display in the Dishman Art Museum through March 5. DRAWINGS, featuring Charles Kanwischer, can be viewed on the second floor gallery during this time. Admission to the Dishman Art Museum is free and open to the public.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (S.U.R.F.)

Hey! My name is Shelby Fryer and I am a junior accounting major, Supplemental Instruction Leader (SI) for ACCT 2302, and LU Success Partner.

These jobs allow me to help other students in their academic journeys, but also provide some comfort knowing that any struggles they are having, almost every other student (including me!) have been through. COVID-19 Vaccines Available

Free COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) are now available at the Student Health Center to all 四虎影视/LIT students, faculty and staff. You must register for an appointment.
